Checklists of 2019

I am ecstatic to announce that we have FINALLY picked a date! ๐Ÿ‘ฐ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿคต Although it’s not until the Fall, I am jumping back on the Whole 30 program tomorrow >Jan 14th ๐Ÿฅ‘ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐ŸŽ I loved the results of Whole 30 last year. I loved the new recipes, the workouts & my new body shape. It’s a breeze after Tiger Blood Week (fighting the urge to eat everything in sight packed with sugars and carbs & being a miserable brat to everyone around you because you’re “hangry“). So, I will start tomorrow & keep you posted of my results! #healthylifestyle #gottafitinthatbridalgown

Not only am I getting fit for the wedding, but also for our upcoming trip to ALASKA. We are going to visit my future brother in law & his fiancรฉ for 10 full days. I have a list of things I would love to do, but I am leaving it in the hands of Mother Nature. No Earthquakes please ๐ŸŒŽ

Some of my Must Do’s:

Fishing at Kenai River ๐ŸŽฃ (We love to Fish)
    Glacier Hiking (Drink Glacier H2O)
    Northern Lights (Weather permitting)
    Tram up Girwood Mtn. ๐Ÿ”

I will try to take as many pics as possible & enjoy my time in the moment. I heard it’s breathtaking beautiful.

Also, planned a little day trip to an upcoming NHL Bruins Game. We are snatching up his Mom & little bro for our first ever hockey game. I am excited to check that off the bucket list. My motto this year- is def YOLO. I am constantly working & never give myself a break. It’s time to enjoy life since we only get one of them.

Along with the fulfilling year, I’ve added a cleaning schedule to the mix. The idea is to clean simple items daily which eliminates buildup and eventually limits cleaning to minimal duties. We will see how this pans out. I usually just have one big cleaning day of the month which leaves me completely exhausted. Mind you, I have two long haired dogs whom shed even in the winter. <Losing Battle. Fingers crossed these small daily duties will make a big impact. ๐Ÿงน

My Checklists have turned into giants posters on my bedroom wall. I find it satisfying to cross off the tasks I’ve completed. I will post the checklists I am using below to help me get through 2019

Camping, Where You Spend A Small Fortune To Live Like The Homeless – Wood Sign

This is a Must Have list aka things I want to beautify my cozy cabin! This list is an afforadble list- generally under $25… so you will not find a tent here. However, who needs a tent when the back of a truck bed will do. < Yeah, that’s going on my Bucketlist ๐Ÿ˜

MUST HAVES- TENT EQUIPMENT: I love new camping gizmos that can help make the experience more delightful. As simple as light, a cute rug or a warm chic blanket these create an overall gleeful trip.

MUST HAVES -KITCHEN GADGETS:ย I love to cook over the open campfire flame. The sweet smokey flavor that absorbs into the freshly cooked food is one of my favorite camping experiences. ย I love to create delicious, easy to cook, camping recipes. But let me save you from one of my horrible camping whoopsies….. I forgot the spatula. Ughhhh…. However with a piece of cardboard, tinfoil & a knife, I created my own handy-dandy spatula for our kitchen needs. It did work…. but I am sure if I had a kit with all of my utensils it would have not been forgotten.

Camp Kitchen Utensil Organizer Travel Set

I am obsessed with this Enamel Tableware Set. Not only with the blue color, but the style is perfect. It just screams “Take Me Camping” & this 4 Person set is UNDER $20!

My morning is not complete without my hot coffee off the morning fire. These mugs can withstand the heat & keeps my coffee warm.

YaeKoo 4-Pack Mugs -Outdoor Travel Cups

Some of the metal grills that are over the firepits are sub-par…. & tinfoil doesn’t always do the trick to help cook your food. For a clean, effortless meal, the Camp Griddle is my go too. Trust me, Bacon + tinfoil = mini grease fire & burnt bacon ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Coghlan’s Two Burner Non-Stick Camp Griddle

This is our first year with this Egg Holder & I am beyond stoked in so many ways. In the past, the eggs never seem to stay cool, because we try to place them at the top of the cooler. And then later in our camping adventures, eventually the egg carton becomes soaked from the cooler which turns into a mess. ย Egg Holder- Please do not fail us this summer.

MUST HAVES- FUN & ACTIVITIES:ย Remember that you want to create everlasting memories. Camping is a freedom from electronics & the social world. It should be a connection with your family/friends & making fun in the present moment. We always bring games with us- such as Uno, Yahztzee, a pack of Playing Cards & ย I always bring a game that has a twist- like Bean-Boozled or Doritos Roulette. These always seem to be a hit & great for any age. Reaching into a mystery bag trying to determine the flavor, creates a lot of suspense & laughter for everyone.

6 Reasons to go Fall Camping

If you haven’t been to the Adirondacks for its everlasting beauty of changing leaves, I suggest you pick a date soon to explore the great outdoors. From late September til mid October, Upstate NY is an ombre of bright red & orange leaves throughout the wide valleys & mountains. This  not only is beautiful in sight, but the temperature is a perfect 70 degrees with a light breeze.

If you couldn’t guess it, the #1 reason to camp up north is… the Foilage. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‚ Breathtaking photos are never ending when visiting the ADK.

#2: Less Crowded  The State Parks & Local campgrounds are less crowded because the children are back in school. So, you are just sharing grounds with retirees and campground members.

#3: Cooler Weather  With the shorter days and cooler nights, a comfy sweater and wooly socks are just right. & with chillier nights, the stars are sure to shine. Look up!

#4: Less Bugs ๐Ÿœ Again, the colder temps are pushing the bugs away. & some are dying off. No more pesky bees flying around your campfire food.

#5: Discounted Camping Pricesโ›บ๏ธ Uusually the campgrounds will have cheaper prices going into the winter months, because it is their off season. & some locals will drop the firewood prices to get their yards cleaned up.

#6: The Bass are Biting ๐ŸŽฃ With winter approaching, fish feel the need to fatten up for the hibernating season too. So, plan one of your fire cooked meals to be a fish dinner. ๐ŸŸ

With Fall fast approaching, be sure to make a day trip to get a glimpse of its true ADK beauty. BTW, October 17th is National take a hike day ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ

Line your hook & grab some worms.ย

Fishing can be either pre-planned or a spur of the moment. But you should always be prepared.

As a woman angler- it’s always a plus to be super cute! So grab your tackle box & a few cute accessories & you’ll be ready for the day ๐Ÿ™‚

Fashion: For the summer season, light colors are always appropriate. & who doesn’t love their short shorts paired with a bikini ๐Ÿ‘™. Foot wear can range from the average flip-flops to sandals to some sneakers. A hat is a must have for the hot sun. Whether its a baseball cap or a sun hat, anything will do.

Today, it is approx 90F out. A spaghetti strap is the perfect fit for that weather. A floral print states that I’m girly & paired with my camo trucker cap takes it from dressy to casual. My Jeans shorts are always my go to. With the pockets to carry my fishing license and the denim brings the outfit together. ย Gotta have my boat shoes! I love them. They are a cheaper version of Sperrys but have lasted for over three years. They are comfortable and my feet can breathe.

Kisses from my Kya Baby ๐Ÿ’• (She snuck into the mini photo shoot haha )
I always wear my Tiffany’s necklace & who doesn’t love a nice pair of pearl earrings. A fishtail is a perfect hairstyle for the day.

Now, with this lovely sun โ›…๏ธ peeking through the clouds, it is always important to have sunscreen. Even wearing sunscreen through the summer season, I still acquire a nice even tan. BugSpray is a saving grace. Spray before you fish & a second time while fishing. Also, bring plenty of H2O. You want to stay hydrated.

Gear: Keep it simple. If your fishing off shore or in a canoe, you need a light load.

Off shore:

  • Fishing Pole
  • Tackle Box
  • Bait
  • Net
  • Water

For the Canoe, add:

  • Paddles
  • Life Jacket

Location: in central New York there are several places to fish for beautiful clean eating fish. Today, we took the canoe to the barge canal. ย (On the outskirts of Rome, NY) *Reference Below

I was using a mini bleeding eye spinner bait with a red and white skirt. After the first cast, I had a fish on. It was a baby bluegill.

I definetly enjoyed my evening of easy bites, bug free & good company

The Rome Canal

The Western Inland Lock Navigation Company, a private company, had the rights to develop a water route from the Hudson River to Seneca Lake. They had already built a canal built around the falls in Little Falls and completed the before mentioned work on Wood Creek. There still was the need to connect the Mohawk River to Wood Creek, and thus work started in 1796. On October 3rd, 1797, the Rome Canal was completed. This man made canal had two locks made of brick, both lift locks with a lift of 8 feet and 10 feet. The prism was 47.5 feet wide and allowed boats with up to 3.5 feet of draft. The canal was 1.7 miles long.

Unfortunately in about five years it was necessary to rebuild the locks. The mortar used to hold the bricks together had failed, and the locks were rebuilt of stone, at great expense. Lessons learned here, and at Little Falls about the building of canals were critical in the building of the Erie Canal 20 years later.
